Student Leadership Scholarships and Opportunities

Ohio State's Office of Student Financial Aid has a list of scholarships with eligibility information about hundreds of scholarships available to students, from both university sources and external sources like community organizations, churches, the military, etc.

Ohio State undergraduate student leaders in the arts and sciences have several additional opportunities for scholarships, recognition, and fellowship. Those who consider the university’s motto “Educating for Citizenship” an important part of their education may find the information below useful.

ASC Student Council
The Arts and Sciences Colleges Student Council exists to help bridge the gap between students and faculty members in the Colleges of the Arts and Sciences.  It offers a variety of social, academic, and service activities to meet the interests of all the individuals in the organization.

Washington Academic Internship Program of the John Glenn School of Public Affairs
An exciting opportunity for Ohio State students to study and work in the nation's capital. The program selects outstanding undergraduates from any major to spend a quarter in Washington, D.C., as John Glenn Fellows. Students work in field placements that reflect their particular areas of academic interest.

Edward S. “Beanie Drake” Student Leader Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded on the basis of current participation and service to campus and community affairs, leadership potential, financial need, and academic achievement.

Student–Alumni Council Scholarship
Scholarships are based on campus involvement and potential contribution to the university community. Through awarding these honors, the Student–Alumni Council hopes to promote loyalty to the university and cultivate relationships between students, alumni, and others.

Annual Leadership Awards
Ohio State recognizes hundreds of leaders who give of their time, talent, and energy to better our university community throughout the years. Each year students and
student organizations can be nominated for one of eight awards, including outstanding first–year, senior, humanitarian, and student organization.

Class Honoraries
Class honoraries—two for each of the sophomore, junior, and senior classes—recognize students for their scholarship, leadership, and service. The honoraries also provide them with an opportunity to make new friends while getting more involved on campus and in the Columbus community. Originally, one honorary was male and one female, but every honorary is now co–ed. The differences now lie in their traditions, service projects, and social activities. Each group has aspects that are unique to them, and those should be considered when deciding which to apply to. Most applications are due towards the end of February, so if some Web sites have out–of–date information, keep checking back.
